My name is Alexander S. Aakesson. (Alec)
I am a stay at home father and UNIX Geek in Chattanooga TN. U.S.A.
The type of yoga I like to teach is Hatha Yoga.

My experience with Hatha Yoga started in 1979, and I have been working at it  most of the time since then. My approach to Hatha Yoga is that it should be done slowly.  That each asana (posture) should be held for as long as is comfortable for each student.  This method allows one to get the most out of the asana.  In this way it is possible for each student to get the maximum from the posture (given their level of ability.)

I have practiced all over the world, and from time to time taught  friends.  In August of 07 my wife encouraged me to take a class to become a Yoga Teacher.  I started classes, and  in July of 2008 I became registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) with the Yoga Alliance and later in May of 2009 became certified as a Yoga Therapist (CYT.)  My teacher is Deborah Perry http://www.yogatse.com/

My daily practice.
I normally start the day with an hour meditation and Surya Namaskar augmented with another flow routine (generally one based on balancing asanam.)  Then in the afternoon I have a longer Hatha Yoga session, which may take from an hour to two and a half hours.  Two or three times  a week I use Hatha Yoga to work on my scoliosis.  I have found that this approach has been very useful in relieving the pain in my back from the scoliosis.  I also enjoy T’ai Chi Ch’uan, T’ai Chi Chien (the sword form,) painting, reading, traveling and playing with my daughter.
